Walking Tour of Jackson Ward tomorrow
A “History Walking Tour of Jackson Ward” sponsored by the Valentine Richmond History Center will take place tomorrow from 2-4PM. Meet the guide in front of the Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia. You do not need to preregister. Each tour costs $10 (cash only) at tour site, $9 in advance at History Center.

Gallery5 seeking sponsors for Carnival of 5 Fires
Gallery5 is seeking sponsors for their expanded, 3-day-long Carnival of 5 Fires, set for October 5th, 6th, and 7th. A portion of the funds raised by sponsorships and ticket costs for this year’s event will go toward Gallery5’s mission of becoming ADA compliant. Carver Elem. and Chandler MS both make AYP
Both schools hit Federal “Adequate Yearly Progress” benchmarks for the 2006-2007 school year, the first time in 6 years for Chandler. Statewide, only 70% of the schools made AYP. The environment at Carver seems primed for continued success this year.
