Richmond’s Old & Historic Districts 1957-2007

The Virginia Center for Architecture will celebrate a pictorial exhibit highlighting 50 years of preservation of Richmond’s historic properties and neighborhoods. The exhibit will run from October 25th through November 17th. Speakers at the October 25th Opening Night will be Rachel Flynn, Mary Jane Massad Houge and Jack Zehmer. richmond.com’s popular Ask the Mayor this week answers the question “Are there any plans for a senior apartment complex in the Downtown area?”, saying that “the former school complex at 21 East Leigh Street is being redeveloped into an independent-living senior community”. (UPDATED)

The RTD has a profile of Common Groundz, the coffee shop at 734 West Broad. Opened in April by recovering drug addicts, they are helping one another stay clean and hope they can encourage locals to get their buzz from caffeine instead of drugs or alcohol.
