Better storage is great. As a musuem member, I am concerned that the museum, like most in Richmond, has failed to take advantage of technology to put their collections on line.
Few black i nstitutions have tried to expand their audience or their reach by taking advantage of the computer and seeing it a way to develop without needed additional brick-and-mortar space.
The models are there already. Other museums already do this. But people have to recognize opportunities to take advantage of them.
This is one project for which the museum could easily raise the money. Or maybe one of the children or grandchildren of board members could acquaint them with how to use a video camera and register on Utube and other free networking sites.
It’s so obvious, just like computerized courses could help struggling HBCUs gain more revenue. But guess who ignores an easy money-making strategy now broadly in use in nonHBCU institutions.
Putting stuff in better storage is great. But still the public does not get to see it. Duh.
Have to agree with Jeremy on that one.
Also, I recall Larry telling me about a solar power workshop that he used to run near there with Bridgette.
