Fundamentals of Brick Repointing and Repair & Introduction to Porch Repair and Reconstruction
Two classes, Fundamentals of Brick Repointing and Repair and Introduction to Porch Repair and Reconstruction, are being offered by the Pythagoras School for Skilled Building Craftsmanship in conjunction with the Historic Jackson Ward Association, Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church, and Davies Masonry and Restoration Inc. The classes will be held from 8AM-4PM daily on April 7-11 and April 14-18 (respectively) and will take place at 1 West Duval Street.

Does it have a bright green “gator” bag like this one attached to it? If so, please fill it once a week — and maybe even talk with your neighbors about helping you. (The fill-up slot is underneath the label at the top of the bag.) These bags are important to the survival of the small trees — over 50% of new trees fail because of lack of water, and rainfall is short this winter. [via]

A man and a woman were both shot in the leg at about 3:45PM yesterday afternoon in the Gilpin area. According to the police, the victims were walking down Federal Street when the shots were fired. [via]

Sergeant William Phibbs of the Day Shift investigated a call of an individual selling drugs on Moore Street. Good investigative techniques led to an arrest for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
