2 teens arrested for robberies
Two unidentified teens, ages 14 qnd 15 years old, have been arrested in a series of armed robberies along the VCU & Broad Street corridor over the past few days. A police representative quoted in the RTD said the teens also face “numerous other pending charges”, including a robbery last Sunday at Clay and Adams Streets. [via]

How does this stuff happen in the middle of the day in relatively busy areas? I’m new to Richmond, but I lived for the last ten years in a major city where I hardly ever worried about crime. I just don’t get it.
I was hoping this was related to some recent underreported robberies in the VCU/Oregon Hill area, but did see the weird correction in Sunday’s paper?
The VCU website has posted an update about this incident. It seems as if this is an old story that was erroneously reprinted in the RTD. It happened last year.
Thanks for the follow-up.
This is where a concealed handgun permit comes in handy…
The downside of Spring is that crime rate always goes up. Also, how do you stop crime that happens at random? The police station next to Richmond’s premiere hot spot to buy drugs (Cary & Meadow) hasn’t stopped or hindered the city’s rampant drug trade so when even increased police presence doesn’t take a bite out of crime in the capital city. With the economy tanking and warm weather on the horizon, expect more crime to come…
A concealed handgun combined with proper training on the rules of engagement will eliminate these types of robberies as an issue of concern to you.
