TeaCo is a welcome addition to the community

The new Urban Views Weekly has a profile of TeaCo on Broad Street:

In a fast-paced age where the coffee shop rules, TeaCo has carved out its own niche centered around health and community. The trio from D.C. strives to foster a “home away from home” atmosphere, and to invest in the community that patronizes them. The same family-like character found in barbershops and hair salons can be found at Tea-Co. “I love walking into the room and everyone speaking to you. It’s like stepping into your living room,” says Maya Corneille, a regular patron.

I’ve been going to TeaCo almost since they opened. Myra has the perfect personality to run this place and they are serious about tea. This time of year some organic blueberry tea really hits the spot.

I met Myra while she was selling her teas at the 17th St Farmers Market before the shop opened and I would never buy loose leaf tea from anyone else. She educates you about the different varieties without being a “tea snob.” Her chocolate-mint tea gets me through the summer and the chai gets my through the winter.
