fire hits warehouse in Carver

Nearby houses were evacuated when a vacant warehouse at North Harrison and West Marshall Streets burned just after 12:30PM today.

    Thanks for posting the images of the fire. It was scary and too reminiscent of the big one a few years ago.

    I am very grateful to the City firefighters, VCU and everyone who helped those affected by the fire.

    I was bothered, however, at the amount of media coverage that centered only on the fire’s effect on VCU and VCU students. The article in the RTD this morning did not so much as mention Carver, even as they referenced the big fire of several years ago. I was also troubled that they referred to New Clay House as a homeless shelter. New Clay House provides clean, safe and affordable housing to people who are formerly homeless. I hope the mention of New Clay House in the media will get some people interested in the work Virginia Supportive Housing does in Metro Richmond. They’re a good organization and a good neighbor.
