Sector 413 report for August
Lieutenant Drew’s monthly report from August (PDF) for the Richmond Police Departments Sector 413 (which cover Jackson Ward) is now available:
Once again we had a great month in Sector 413!! We achieved a 25% decrease in violent crime, a 13% decrease in property crime and overall a 15% decrease in major crime. Thanks so much for all of your assistance. We cannot do this alone and are always very thankful for
the valuable information that you provide to RPD!!Even with the significant decrease in violent crime – we still saw an increase in individual robberies. In August of 2007 we had 7 robberies; in August of 2008 we had 10. We have made arrests on 5 of those robberies – the other 5 are still under investigation. Please see the crime tips on page 2 for information on how you can better protect yourselves.

This week’s Urban View’s Weekly has a great interview with 312 Gallery’s P. Muzi Branch:
The paintings of P. Muzi Branch Philip reflect his love for African American culture and the often difficult merging of people brought together by the Diaspora; what Muzi calls, “that ugly beautiful story.” The 55-year old artist received both his BFA and Master’s of Art Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. He’s taught in Richmond Public Schools, at the College of William & Mary, Virginia Union, and Virginia State Universities.
