Samuels also the best man for the job because he answers his frickin’ email
One of the three City Council candidates for the 2nd district have submitted their responses to the 2nd in a series of weekly questions put to them by RVA News (last week). The question: What are two qualities that people who know you well might say make you suited for the office you seek?”
Sadly, only one candidate from the 2nd answered the question:
Charles Samuels, city council
I could go on and on about why I think I’m the man for the job, however, while I was making the decision to run for this position, I asked people who know me if they thought I’d do a good job. They were very supportive and many of them focused on the following reasons why I would be a responsible council person:
1. I am willing to take the time to listen to what people have to say and educate myself on the issues before making a decision; and
2. I took the time to gain valuable experience essential to a good council person by being active for my community in many roles where I displayed an even-temper and conducted myself professionally and respectfully.

Tyron Bey, city council
I am impressed that Kim Gray, who is challenging Lisa Dawson for the Second District seat on School Board, actually answers phone calls and returns e-mails.
I have tried calling Dawson on several occasions and have sent her e-mails with concerns. I have never heard back from her. Perhaps if I were one of the “more important” people in this town, she would call me back.
Unfortunately, my children do not attend Fox, or Hill, or IB or Governor’s School.
Dawson has NO TIME for the little people, she is too busy sucking up to Bill Pantele and acting like a bigshot to care about the regular people in the Second District.
Kim Gray, on the other hand, has been both a Warner and Kaine appointee and understands the importance of constituent services. I cannot think of a single thing Dawson has accomplished during her tenure except make excuses for RPS administrators.
I hope Kim Gray wins!
I think that RVAnews should ask School Board candidates to submit answers in writing.
I bet it would be most interesting to see how functionally illiterate some of them are.
Interesting and sad.
