I’ve always been told that the best thing to do during a robbery is hand over your stuff. In Richmond the robberies have gotten to the point where you’re better off trying to fight your way out than hand over anything because these thugs around here aren’t satisfied with simply robbing people. The young man who was shot and killed in Byrd park the beginning of the year handed over everything he had and was then shot in the back while running away.
It’s time for the good citizens of the city to turn vigilant against the people committing crimes like this.
My wife and I have seen many sketchy people and strange things happen in the three years we’ve lived in Carver. Too often we let it pass because we don’t want to be the people who “cry wolf” to the police, or we simply don’t want to get involved.
From this point forward I’m going to fight these people. If I see suspicious looking guys in the park on Catherine, Abner Clay Park, or walking around the neighborhood I’m calling the police. If this means I have to “profile” then so be it. Everyone in the neighborhood all races and ages knows who is committing these crimes, and where they’re coming from.
If the citizens of Carver and Jackson Ward are vigilant about calling the police on suspicious people, after a while these thugs will realize if they cross 95 into our neighborhood their going to be stopped by the police.
I don’t plan on moving from Carver any time in the near future. I own my home and I love this neighborhood. If you feel the same then I urge you to join me in the fight.
Sincerely,
Chief of Carver Nation
