Obama @ Richmond Coliseum on Wednesday

This Wednesday, October 22nd, Barack Obama will hold a campaign rally at the Richmond Coliseum. Doors open at 10AM. This event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required; however, an RSVP is strongly encouraged. For security reasons, do not bring bags and please limit personal items. No signs or banners permitted.

    News reports say that he is canceling events on THursday and Friday, so it sounds like this is still a go.

    Several informal bike ride join-up locations are listed below so that those who wish to, may bike together to see President-to-be Obama, who will be appearing at the Richmond Coliseum at 12:15 on Wednesday, October 22, 2008.

    Groups will form and depart at the time indicated. Although no leader will be designated, groups are encouraged to adhere to all traffic safety rules. Everyone (even Republicans) are welcome to join these moderate-paced ride groups and attend the event at the Richmond Coliseum. No tickets are required for admission to the Coliseum.

    Group One: Meet at Performance Bike on West Broad St. at 10:30.

    Group Two: Meet at Rowlett’s Bike at Staples Mill and West Broad at 11:00.

    Group Three: Meet at J. Sargeant Reynolds, Parham Road Campus at the flagpoles: 10:00.

    Group Four: VCU Commons (near ATM) at 11:00.

    Group Five: Virginia Barbecue, Lakeside Avenue at Hilliard. 10:30.

    Group Six: Virginia Aviation Museum at the Richmond Airport. 10:00.

    Group Seven: Chickahominy Bluffs Battlefield Park (near Mechanicsville Turnpike and Laburnum). 10:00.

    Other rides will be formed on an ad hoc basis based on local neighborhood interest. Encourage your friends and neighbors to bike to see Obama on Wednesday, October 22, 2008. Doors will open at 10:00 and the speech should begin around 12:30.

    Have fun, bike safely and enjoy a crisp autumn bike ride.
