Local “news site” Carver & Jackson Ward News, in a lame attempt at seasonal humor, posted several half-assed April Fools stories early this morning. “I’ve been spending too much time with middle school kids”, site author Murden said when called on his juvenile prank. [via]

crime map back up
Changes at our host had killed the neighborhood crime map for a few days there, but it’s all back now.

calendar update
The calendar on the left side of each page has been updated. Instead of showing a week from Sunday to Saturday, it now displays a rolling week from one day back to six days out.

6 months later…
A few days will mark 6 months of Carver & Jackson Ward News. We’ve put up over 150 posts and we’re almost daily at this point. We’ve done ok, I think, but we need more! If you are interested in helping be a voice for the area or have any comments or suggestions, please contact us.

Hey folks! If you find CJWN to be interesting, there are 2 new sites that you might like to know about: River District News, covering Rocketts to Manchester, went live this morning. Also coming online today is RVA News, a new Richmond news site that pulls from all of the city’s neighborhood blogs (like this one) to represent Richmond as we all see it. Check’em out.

this might be useful
We’ve added a new detail at the bottom of the right side of the page called a tag cloud. Each post on the site is tagged with key words from whatever it is about, and these words are pulled into the tag cloud. The more often a tag is used, the larger it will appear in the cloud.

The main classifieds pages for For Sale/Wanted and Housing now include listings pulled from Craig’s List. Listings submitted through cjwn will always be at the top of the list.
