Sectors 412/413 reports for February (UPDATED)

The February report Sector 412 (PDF) from Lieutenant Timothy Morley and the February report Sector 413 (PDF) from Lieutenant Lisa Drew are both now available. From the 412 report:
Sergeant William Phibbs of the Day Shift investigated a call of an individual selling drugs on Moore Street. Good investigative techniques led to an arrest for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

parking regulations for Carver
Due to the limited on-street parking in the Carver District, Ordinance No. 2007-251-209 was passed in September of 2007 to require residents and guests of the neighborhood to obtain a permit to park on several streets in this area. Parking on the restricted streets without a permit is limited to 1 hour from 7AM to 10PM, Monday through Saturday. A Carver District Parking Decal is required to park in excess of 1 hour during these times. Find out more >>

Carver barely part of Downtown Plan
Oregon Hill has coverage of last night’s Carver/Oregon Hill/Monroe Ward/VCU Downtown Plan meeting:
Carver neighborhood residents were interested in a couple of aspects. One resident thought Gilmore Street should be considered for two-way traffic. Many were surprised that more of Carver did not appear in the Downtown Master plan study, and wanted to see the whole neighborhood to come under consideration. They felt that streetscape improvements are badly needed there.

Downtown Plan meeting Monday for Carver/Oregon Hill/Monroe Ward

The second of the recently announced neighborhood-level Downtown Plan meetings is scheduled for Monday for the VCU, Monroe Ward, Oregon Hill, and Carver areas. The meeting will be at the William Byrd Community House (224 South Cherry Street) tonight from 6-8PM.

Owning off-campus in todays RTD looks at the economics of selling condos to the parents of college students. Both of the examples in the article, Eagle Mill Towers and Iron House Place condo developments, are recent developments within walking distance to 2 universities and the grocery store.

Carver #6 for auto thefts
1,235 cars were reported stolen in Richmond last year. Of Richmond’s more than 120 neighborhoods, Carver was #6 with 33 cars being reported stolen in 2007. The top 7 were: Jahnke Road (53), Midlothian Business Corridor (48), The Fan (43), Jeff Davis (37), Northrup (34), Carver (33), and Ginter Park (32). [via]

bird in Carver darkens much of the city
An estimated 5,200 customers in the downtown Richmond area are without power as a result of an outage at the Carver Substation that occurred at 1:30PM today when a bird that flew into a transformer. [via]

Sectors 412 and 413 reports for October

Lieutenant Lisa Drew reports “another great month for Sector 413 and thanks to the cooperation of our community - crime is continuing to go down! Violent Crime was down 50% this month. We are still continuing to have a problem with property crimes (mainly thefts from autos) but even property crime was down 6%.
