Repressed III Closing Show @ Gallery5

Gallery5 has announced a special Repressed III Closing Exhibition in collaboration with the 2008 Southern Graphics Council Conference. Fri 3/28 6-10PM FREE.

Stencil Workshop by Thea Duskin of Ghost Print Gallery
Stencil making is a time tested method of image reproduction useful for many surfaces ranging from fabric to paper to walls. The workshop will be divided into beginner and intermediate sections. Thea will be teaching bristol board stencil techniques, using a stencil knife, and mylar stencil techniques, using both knives and burners. All one needs to bring is an image, if desired. No sign-up necessary. Materials provided. 3/14 4PM $5 @ Gallery5.

Repressed III, a show dedicated to socially conscious works, opens Friday 7PM-11PM @ Gallery5. Repressed III is being held in conjunction with the 2008 Southern Graphics Council Conference and runs through March 28.

Gallery5 seeks donations for birthday bash
Gallery5 is seeking donations of artwork/crafts/jewelry/services to raise funds at Gallery5 and RVA’s three year anniversary party set for April 4th. Donations will be auctioned to support the gallery’s mission “to enrich our community through the exposure of the arts”. Contact Gallery 5 at gallery5@gallery5arts.org if you can make a donation.

I Dream of A Richmond… opens Friday @ Gallery5

In an effort to aid civic dialog, Gallery5 and There Once Was A Rebellion join forces in the socially-driven endeavor I Dream of a Richmond…. I Dream of a Richmond… is intended to be public platform that will cultivate local concerns and serve as a regional forum that allows people to express their needs and aspirations regarding the community. RVA Magazine has the word on Gallery5 and T.O.W.A.R.’s “I Dream of a Richmond…”, a campaign to indiscriminately allow people to express their needs and aspirations regarding our community. This will kick off at Gallery5 during the January First Friday (1/4/08).

I dream of a Richmond…
Gallery5 and T.O.W.A.R are seeking photography for a public campaign to reflect and address the concerns of the Richmond community. They are requesting submissions of portrait photography accompanied by a quote from the individual in the photo. The quote should be prompted by the phrase “I dream of a Richmond…” and express that person’s vision for a better community.
