Gilpin voted 587-3 for Obama (99.5%)

The city website has a map of all of the voter precincts and a breakdown of the recent vote by precinct. Interesting numbers if you’re into that kind of thing… For instance: by a ratio of 196 to 1, Precinct 212 in Gilpin went the most overwhelming across the whole city for for Barack Obama.

FiveThirtyEight passes through RVA, Carver

Immensely popular numbers-crunching and politics site FiveThirtyEight made a stop in Richmond, VA and interviewed both recent Miss Virginia Kristi Lauren Glakas and Governor Tim Kaine. They also popped into the Obama headquarters in Carver and got a few photos of the hustle and bustle.

Obama @ Richmond Coliseum on Wednesday
This Wednesday, October 22nd, Barack Obama will hold a campaign rally at the Richmond Coliseum. Doors open at 10AM. This event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required; however, an RSVP is strongly encouraged. For security reasons, do not bring bags and please limit personal items. No signs or banners permitted.

a visit to the Obama basecamp
F.T.Rea at SLANTblog visits the Richmond base of the Obama campaign @ Norton and Marshall Streets:
Approaching the Virginia headquarters for Sen. Barack Obama it became obvious right away — this is not your Dad’s campaign office. It’s on the ground floor of an ancient brick building at the corner of W. Marshall St. and Norton St. That’s directly behind VCU’s spiffy basketball arena, the Stuart C. Siegel Center.
Perhaps more importantly, it’s not downtown, where tradition would have it. Geographically, it’s centrally-located, but it’s not on a high traffic thoroughfare like Main St.

Wilder launches Obama voter drive
Mayor Wilder appeared at the Obama campaign’s new Virginia headquarters at 1208 West Marshall Street to announce a voter registration drive:
Richmond Mayor L. Douglas Wilder announced yesterday that the Obama campaign has a goal of registering 151,000 prospective new voters over the next three months. That would be 1,000 more than Obama himself helped register as a community organizer in Chicago before he ran for office.
